  SHANKARE HILL 3

Location

A small hill located to the west of Shankare was designated Shankare 3. Two hills directly to the north of Shankare were named Shankare 2. Two smaller hillocks are located directly east of Shankare 3. No archaeological remains were observed along the base of these features.

Archaeological remains

Shankare 3 has a flat summit on which a high free standing stone wall was built. The summit of the hill is also covered with an extensive deposit in which slag can be seen.

Historical evidence

No historical evidence is available for Shankare 3. Shankare 2 and 3, however, were probably smaller satellite settlements which resorted under the jurisdiction of the ruling lineage who occupied the capital, Shankare.

State of preservation

This settlement is in pristine condition.
