MAXINJANA HILL

Location

Maxinjana Hill stands on the edge of a plateau-like ridge so that this hill appears to be higher when it is viewed from the south than when it is observed from the north. The site is located to the west of Phutwane Hill and to the north-east of Muhululu Hill.

Historical evidence

No historical evidence is available for this settlement.

Archaeological remains

A series of small terraces were located approximately half-way to the top and on the southern slope of the hill. No artefacts were recovered from the hill, with the exception of a portion of a small bowl found near the northern base of the hill.

State of preservation

This site has no archaeological remains of any significance any longer. The terraces on the hill were destroyed during construction work on the slope of the kopje.
